Grace Christian University Adds New Presidential Dining Room

Grand Rapids, MI (12/16/2019) — Grace Christian University held its Grand Reopening of the campus Dining Room and celebrated the opening of the newly added Presidential Dining Room.

Over 120 guests were on hand for the event including many donors, alumni, staff and faculty and community members including City Council member Dan Burrill of Wyoming. Campaign Co-Chairs Randy Zandbergen and Ami Walker cut the ribbon for the new space after President Ken Kemper spoke and offered a prayer of dedication.

The dining room renovation and expansion is the first impact of the Expanding Grace Capital Campaign. The project included a complete renovation of the main dining rooms and kitchen as well as the addition of the new Presidential Dining Room, which aside from student use, is for special use to welcome leaders, ministry partners, special community groups and board gatherings.

President Ken Kemper says, "We are extremely excited to upgrade our kitchen and expand and remodel our dining facilities. This is such a critical part of our campus community as our students share food and life together here along with faculty and staff also. We praise God for His supply to go forward with this and the many generous ministry partners."

The campaign, which kicked off in April of 2019 with Kirk Cousins at the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks to raise $4M by the end of 2021, with a master plan that will total $25M by the end of 2032. Plans call for removing several currently owned student houses to build townhome style housing, contiguous to Grace Christian University's existing campus. To date, $3.6M of the $4M has been raised.

Grace Christian University seeks to develop passionate servants of Jesus Christ by personally educating students in an educational program that emphasizes the integration of biblical truth, ministry experience, and character transformation. This emphasis pervades the entire campus as the University strives to cultivate a caring learning community where Jesus Christ is exalted and students are equipped for serving the needs of church and society. As an interdenominational institution located in Wyoming, Mich., Grace offers on campus programs as well as undergraduate and graduate programs online.
